The 2010s is the decade we are currently living in. All kind of things are happening all around us. Amidst all of this, there are also all kind of movies made; some great, some terrible and everything in between. Now the decade is just two years from being over, it is fun to see what our favorite of this decade are so far and how this list evolves. Which movies are here to stay, which ones disappear and which ones are sleeper hits slowly crawling up over the years. These are our 250 favorite movies of the decade till so far.

Yay for Gett !

Boo for Imitation Game and for OJ, which is quite good but not a film.

Visages villages is nice, but I am still somewhat doubtful that it will stand up to Varda's previous self-centered documentaries in the long run.

I thought Kingsman was one of the worst theatrical experiences I've had in the last ten years, and had I gone by myself I probably would have walked out halfway into it (Of course, I wouldn't have gone in the first place if it was up to me).
Not against secret agent spoofs, per se, just fairly witless ones that go well beyond overkill, and lack much imagination.

What's entertaining and humorous to one person may not be to the next, but there are narrative and cinematic values to consider.... I better leave it there.

The other 3 I saw were all worthwhile, though none made it into the 100 I submitted.

The Avengers really wasn't that good, even for a blockbuster, it actually was a bit disappointing. Kingsman: The Secret Service was also boring.

I want to see: O.J. Made in America, Black Coal, Thin Air and Right Now, Wrong Then at least yet.

Yeah, my list was already finished when I posted it, a top 50 where all the films are ranked. But if you counted the 50 films as ranked, and since I didn't add any new films, it didn't (hopefully) matter in the end?

This didn't matter indeed. "unranked50" means everything below 50 will be counted as unranked. The top 50 gets exactly the same points as a top 50 in a ranked list. Since your list is 50 titles long, it doesn't matter.

If you submit a list, just say "ranked" if it is fully ranked.

Black Coal, Thin Ice is the first from my list to arrive.
It 'S also the first film I saw after moving to China... and without subtitles or knowledge of Chinese.
It actually played ok without them, and I saw it again a couple of years ago with subtitles.

Very good NeonNoir / police procedural. Great atmosphere, excellent lead. Glad a few others thought well of it.

What's the difference between rise and dawn?

I guess it's cause they're rising up, and dawn is more about what time of day it is.

It's a miniseries, miniseries were eligible.

And it's a f'n amazing miniseries. Boo at such a big drop.
Indeed. No need for people to poo-poo perfectly eligible titles like documentary mini-series. I wish OJ: Made in America was higher too, but at least it's still hanging in there.

I saw Rodrigues in concert at the festival last week. B) Guy spent 5 minutes before every song tuning his guitar
He came to Perth a couple of years ago and my ex best friend was a massive fan and had tickets to go with his Mum which would have been his first concert. Not long after he got there he asked me to pick him up because they’d had a huge fight and he didn’t want to ruin his Rodrigues experience. It was the first, and still the only, time I drove high. I only like one Rodrigues song but it triggers me now so I just kind of avoid Rodrigues altogether now lol.

Ah, maybe next year we'll finally be rid of The Avengers. :)

Your Name is ranked pretty low. I haven't seen it yet though. I also want to see Mandariinid, Snowpiercer, Martha Marcy May Marlene and Himizu.

I thought Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was one of the better action movies of the last years. Rise is just a stereotypical origin's movie of an anthology. It isn't bad, but it shouldn't have made the list imo. Elle had good acting (Isabelle Huppert was tremendous) but the plot was kinda ridicilous, so i didn't like that one as well.

Boo for Imitation Game and for OJ, which is quite good but not a film.

Right, I know that's the rule here and I understand that most people agree with it, but I just don't know why. If you consider TV and cinema to be different mediums, it's pretty clear which category TV Mini-Series belong to (there's a bit of a hint in the name).

Rise of the Planet of the Apes and First Class are ones I'm pretty surprised to see still hanging on to this list.

In general I don't believe people on this forum view TV and Cinema as different mediums in the way you mean here, and the difference has been broken down by the way cinema is consumed. TV films had already changed conventions drastically, but with Netflix having large critical successes the concept of filmed medium being different solely due to the context in which they were originally intended to be viewed is dying fast.

And I agree with this. TV films and Cinematic films are both films, and though a mini-series occupies more of a grey area they are closer to films than series in my opinion. Would you really want to exclude Scenes From a Marriage for instance? Mini-series have a compact purpose and artistic vision. There are grayer areas within this grey area as well, but a debatable spectrum seems more fitting than ignoring great "films".

For what it's worth, O.J.: Made in America also had a theatrical version and the doc premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and also played in theaters in NYC and LA. Oh, and the Academy Awards folks obviously recognized it as a film since it was nominated for (and won!) Best Documentary Feature.

That may well be the case, but clearly the rules here do acknowledge a difference, since they exclude TV series and TV episodes.

If you can give me a definition of cinema that includes TV mini-series but not TV series, I'd be interested... because I don't see it. And I certainly don't know what "compact purpose and artistic vision" have to do with it, unless you mean to imply that no TV series has ever had those characteristics...
